Transcending pt. 1 Exhibition (Detroit, Michigan) - September 2022

In the current "Detroit Month of Design" in September 2022, Nneji Akunne presents her second showing of these pieces, in collaboration with the City of Detroit, Design Core, and the United Nations. She continues to go beyond garment design to explore the global impact of garment waste, visually depicting the importance of sustainability in fashion by creating intricate pieces assembled from scrap materials left over from past collections.

Throughout the ongoing month-long exhibition, visitors have access to the world of Nneji Akunne through unique installations, culturally-driven sculptures, and clothing. At the opening reception, visitors experience a live depiction of the processes House of Akachi's team takes to upcycle a garment.

This is a completely shoppable exhibition, where visitors have the opportunity to purchase garments, canvased artworks, and sculptures.
